iPhone Apps Useless - IOS 13.5

iOS 13.5 Chaos: This Frustrating Problem Is Making iPhone Apps Useless

It only launched days ago, but Apple users are reporting a strange iOS 13.5 bug that’s preventing apps from launching.

Apple users know the drill—as with any software release, there are going to be bugs in the latest version of iOS. And it only dropped a couple of days ago, but it seems iOS 13.5 is already suffering from a frustrating problem, with multiple users complaining their apps won’t launch due to a strange error.

The issue first emerged on Twitter, with Apple users reporting they were seeing the message, “this app is no longer shared with you.”

According to 9to5Mac, which broke the news, users are experiencing issues with some of their apps—and the problem is random and not confined to any specific app. It’s apparently related to iCloud Family Sharing, but it doesn’t mean there’s a problem with your iCloud account, 9to5 Mac says.

So what’s going on? It’s probably an Apple server issue preventing iOS from verifying that you’ve already bought the app you are trying to open.

In full, the error message reads: “This app is no longer shared with you. To use it, you must buy it from the App Store.”

There’s no way of getting rid of the error message—you can only cancel the prompt or you are redirected to the App Store. Some users have overcome the issue by reinstalling the affected apps.

Apple hasn’t confirmed the problem yet, but hopefully it will fix it soon, so however frustrating it is, it might be better to hold on tight and wait.

Apple’s iOS 13.5 is certainly a big update—it includes vital features such as the ability to easily unlock your phone while wearing a mask. It will of course also feature security fixes, so I wouldn’t recommend you avoid updating your phone due to this bug.

The problem came after another big iOS issue in May, which saw Apple users’ apps crashing due to a now-fixed issue in the Facebook software development kit (SDK) used by many apps for sign in.

As for this latest problem, you can check Apple’s System Status page or my page for updates. We’ll update this article as soon as I can.

As Memorial Day tempts people outdoors, virus rebound feared

As Memorial Day tempts people outdoors, virus rebound feared

Millions of Americans are set to emerge from coronavirus lockdowns and venture outdoors to celebrate Memorial Day weekend at beaches, cookouts and family outings

Millions of Americans are getting ready to emerge from coronavirus lockdowns and venture outdoors to celebrate Memorial Day weekend at beaches, cookouts and family outings, raising concern among public health officials that large gatherings could cause outbreaks to come roaring back.

Medical experts warn that the virus won’t take a holiday for the traditional start of summer. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to recommend that people stay home, avoid crowds and connect with family and friends by phone or video chat.
Dr. Seth Cohen, an infectious disease expert at the University of Washington Medical Center-Northwest in Seattle, advised that people who do celebrate keep their distance, wear masks and avoid sharing food and drinks.

“Punch bowls. Nachos. These things are a no-no,” Cohen said.
Dr. Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus task force, said Friday that people can enjoy the outdoors if they stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) apart. Birx offered as examples playing tennis with marked balls, one for each player to handle, or not touching flags on the golf course.

“That is your space and that’s the space that you need to protect and ensure that you're social distanced for others," Birx said at a White House briefing. She also suggested disposable utensils for picnics and potlucks.

Birx said COVID-19 is declining nationwide, but many healthy-seeming people are unknowingly infected, making social distancing, face coverings and frequent hand-washing necessary.

The holiday weekend arrives amid the bleakest economy in decades. Tens of millions have been laid off since the virus hit hard in March and forced shutdowns. Unemployment has reached its highest level since the Great Depression. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell warned Thursday that prospects for a recovery will remain unclear until the health crisis is resolved.

Many Memorial Day commemorations have been canceled or downsized, including concerts and fireworks shows. Parks, beaches, campgrounds and swimming pools remain closed in much of the country.
But plenty of popular spaces will be open — with limits.

Californians headed into the weekend with both excitement and anxiety after restrictions eased in many areas. The nation’s most populous state has started seeing a decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations after being the first to order a statewide shutdown.

David Spatafore, who owns Blue Bridge Hospitality restaurant group, was looking forward to Friday's reopening of patio seating at the group's pizzerias and dining rooms at its high-end steakhouse in Coronado, across the bay from San Diego.

“I think people are going to be so happy to be able to go back out and not eat out of a plastic container or cardboard box,” he said. “I know I am.” In Virginia Beach, Virginia, the famed 40-block boardwalk and sandy shoreline reopened, but with spacing guidelines and groups limited to 10. Group sports such as volleyball are prohibited, along with tents and alcohol consumption.

Mayor Bobby Dyer said about 150 “beach ambassadors” in red shirts will “diplomatically” ask people to follow rules.
Without clear federal guidance, state and local officials have been left to figure out how to celebrate the holiday safely. Social-distancing and bans on mass gatherings remain in place throughout much of the country.

Keeping holidays safe is a challenge worldwide. On the same weekend as Memorial Day, the Muslim world will mark the fast-breaking festival Eid al-Fitr. On Monday, U.K. residents get a bank holiday.
Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious diseases expert at Vanderbilt University, warned that being on holiday can lead some people to drop their guard.

“They forget to wear masks” Schaffner said. “They’re not so keen on 6-foot distancing.”

Jersey Shore beaches will be open but there will be no fireworks, Ferris wheel rides, roller coasters, go-karts or arcade games. Atlantic City’s casinos remain closed.

Some locals plan to sit this summer out.

“The unfortunate thing is that all the out-of-town people have been cooped up the same amount of time that the locals have been here,” said Christine Barthelme of Point Pleasant, New Jersey. “My family will do mostly what we do on every holiday weekend here: relax in our backyard, have a barbecue and light the fire pit.”
Beaches, hotels and restaurants remain largely shut down in South Florida. The Urban Beach Week festival, which annually draws tens of thousands to Miami Beach for hip-hop and reggae shows, was called off.

“We saw what happened in early March with spring break crowds,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said, recalling the raucous scenes of youngsters partying in close quarters.

But up the coast in Palm Beach County, officials were preparing for beachgoers.

“Lifeguards and other parks staff will be monitoring the beaches and reminding park users to practice social distancing,” said Chris Korbelak, public engagement manager for the county parks department.
Theme parks are closed at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, but both have reopened their entertainment and restaurant complexes, where guests can expect mandatory mask usage, hand-sanitizing stations and other measures.

For the hard-hit tourism and hospitality industry, there is modest hope Memorial Day will mark the start of something resembling recovery.

“This weekend is an early indicator as to how consumers feel about coming back and partaking in normal social behavior,” said Jason Guggenheim of Boston Consulting Group, which has surveyed consumers.
Data and consulting firm Tourism Economics projects travelers will spend $4.2 billion on Memorial Day weekend, compared with $12.3 billion last year.

Airlines, meanwhile, have largely written off hope of a quick rebound. Air travel in the U.S. remains down about 90% from a year ago, according to Transportation Security Administration figures.
Oklahoma resident Seth Rott this week boarded a plane for the first time since the pandemic to visit a friend in Washington for Memorial Day. Rott said he had little concern about social distancing or safety, given airlines' anti-virus measures.

“I think it will probably be the easiest flight that I’ve ever had just because of a lack of traffic,” he said.

But for most who leave home, it will be by automobile and for relatively short excursions to places like Washington state’s Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

“We’re expecting a bottleneck at some of the popular trails,” spokesman Colton Whitworth said, “especially the lower-elevation ones closer to Seattle.”
At an outdoor beach restaurant in San Diego on Friday afternoon, a server wearing surgical gloves and a face covering rushed by with a Pina Colada in a pineapple-shaped cup. Another employee stood by with cleaning supplies in gloved hand, ready to sanitize empty tables.

Patron George Cruz could only imagine what crowds may come over the weekend, when he, his wife and 6-year-old daughter will be staying home.

“That’s why we decided to come now,” he said. “There definitely will be a surplus of people at the beach.”
“I just hope everybody is smart about how they go out," Cruz added.

I Have 14 Ideas to Make Money on YouTube. Do You Have 3 Minutes?

I Have 14 Ideas to Make Money on YouTube. Do You Have 3 Minutes?

Want to make money online? Becoming a You-Tuber could be a good choice.

YouTube gets more than one billion unique users a month: that’s a huge audience.[1] Many people are already making money there: YouTube boasts one million creators in its YouTube Partner Program alone. With every 1,000 views, you will be able to get an approximate return of $2-$4.This might not seem a lot, but if you consider making 100 videos with 5,000 views each, that would already be $1,000-$2,000. That would be a decent amount of money.

However, it may not be that easy from now on. YouTube has applied a rule to the partner programme. Creators won’t be able to turn on monetization until they hit 10,000 lifetime views on their channel as an effort to remove bad actors in the community.[2] This is a heightened threshold for creators who want to earn a living from YouTube.
Having a million views on a video is nowhere near simple. Luckily, income does not flow only from YouTube revenue or ads, there are also other ways.

See YouTube as a facilitator to make money, not a monetizing platform.

It’s easy to get started, simply use Google’s Creator Playbook. But it’s more challenging what you do with it afterwards.
If you want to start a journey on YouTube, do not see it as a monetizing platform, rather, view it as a catalyst to further your income source. Here are some ways on how to make money on YouTube:

1. Use YouTube to get traffic to your website and blog.

If you’ve got a website or blog which brings in income, you need traffic.
Many websites were hard-hit by Google’s Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird updates. If this happened to you, you’re hurting. You can use YouTube to not only regain traffic, but also increase it.
Get started with the Creator Playbook. Once you’re set up, consider re-purposing some older content into videos, as well as creating new videos. Make sure that you link to your own website in the first line of your video descriptions, so you can funnel your YouTube traffic to where you want it to go.

2. Create products and promote them on YouTube.

If you’re creating your own products or would like to, YouTube offers unlimited ways for you to promote your products and make sales. Products you can create include eBooks, apps, art, and music.
Create your products, and add them to a shopping cart. Then use YouTube to promote them. Add a link to your product in your video’s description, so that viewers can buy.

3. Sell others’ products as an affiliate marketer.

“Affiliate marketing” means selling products in exchange for a commission. Hundreds of thousands of companies offer attractive deals to affiliate marketers who promote their products, including huge companies, like Amazon and eBay, as well as smaller companies.
Additionally, there are many affiliate networks you can join. These networks include Click Bank, Commission Junction, and ShareASale.com.

To make money from YouTube as an affiliate marketer, review your affiliate products on video, or create “how to use this product” tutorials. Don’t forget to link to your products in your YouTube descriptions – make sure you’re using your affiliate link, or you won’t get credit for sales.

4. Create a Web TV series.

Love telling stories? YouTube lets you create your own Web TV shows. You’re limited only by your imagination… and your budget.
You can create a comedy series, a drama series, or your own talk show. Be aware that YouTube limits your show’s length to 15 minutes. To upload longer videos, you’ll need to increase your limit.
If you’re a frustrated TV or screen writer, get a few friends together, and record your own TV shows. You never know. If you get lots of views, you may develop a new career.

5. Become a YouTube personality.

YouTube stars can make a lot of money.[3] PewDiePie, despite having lost major advertisement recently, remains number 1 of the highest-paid YouTube stars with $15 million in 2016. It was estimated that he could receive over $13,000 for a week of publications.
If you’ve got quirky ideas, or are passionate about your interests, develop your YouTube channel. You never know, you may be the next YouTube star.

6. Monetize your videos with the YouTube Partner Program.

After you’ve created several videos, it’s time to join the YouTube Partner Program. All you need to do is enable your channel for monetization, and you’ll receive your share of the income from advertising on YouTube.
Just as the YouTube stars do, you’ll get paid for each thousand views on your videos

7. Teach: share your knowledge with tutorials.

Tutorials are huge on YouTube. If you know how to do something, you can teach others, and make money from your videos. Beauty videos are popular. Michelle Phan, for example has over 1.3 million views.

8. Test-market your products.

YouTube is an amazing resource for market research – you can soon discover whether your brilliant, innovative idea is likely to be profitable.
For example, if you’ve got an idea for a product, but need funding, create some videos before you create a Kickstarter.com campaign. The views and comments on your videos will tell you whether your idea is viable in its present form. The YouTube audience can even help you to make it viable, so that your efforts to get funding are successful.

9. Become an expert on metadata: use keywords to get an audience.

One hundred HOURS of video are uploaded to YouTube every MINUTE.[4] This means that there’s a huge competition for attention. You need to do everything you can to ensure that your videos get found. Your videos’ meta data will help.
“Meta data” is data which gives information about your videos.

Optimizing your videos for search makes the difference between success and failure, so be sure to do it.

10. Build your brand using YouTube.

As marketing guru Tom Peters pointed out way back in 1997, you’re a brand, and you have power.[5] YouTube helps you to amplify YOU.
Whatever you’re doing, and whatever your job, YouTube can help you to become known for your strengths, and make money. Even if you have no clear idea on how you could make money on YouTube, get started creating videos about your interests.
You may just stumble across a gold mine… just as the people who turned their pets into stars have done.

11. Turn your child or pet into a star (and make money).

Two cats, Lil Bub and Grumpy Cat, started out on YouTube, and have become worldwide stars, with book deals.[6]

So keep your video camera handy. If you see something cute, video it, and upload the video. (Don’t forget the meta data.) You never know who or what will be the next video sensation. Create that sensation, and you’ll make money. So there you have it – eleven creative ways you can make money on YouTube.

12. Scheduled videos

It would be much more easy for viewer to catch your content if you publish it in a specific time frame in a regular basis. It might also make them more tending to following your channel, which is to subscribe to you.
It is crucial to have base audience which would always come for your content so that you can ensure your number of views for each video. This also is ensuring a steady amount of income.

13. Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding is becoming more and more common with the introduction of Kickstarter and Indiegogo. It could be a great source of money if you have a great idea for a media project on YouTube. Not only does it generate your initial fund, it also contributes to establish audience and revenue for your project in the future.
For example, famous YouTube channel Corridor Digital uses Patreon as a way to fund their videos or movie projects, with return of special perks for these supporters.

14. Seek sponsorship

Lots of company nowadays provide sponsorship to YouTube channels for direct advertisement. A common source would be Audible from Amazon which frequently sponsor knowledge-giving show such as Vsauce and Veritasium. The good thing about it is that you can directly receive the sponsored amount rather than splitting it with YouTube.
To reach for a sponsorship you might need to work on a detail proposal about the things you are able to provide. Make sure you know well about your audience and the brand you are approaching.

Bonus Tips!

Measure your earning goals

It is important to check your progress regularly in order to tell if you are still on the right track in terms of finance.

Sets goals for yourself to measure. If you are not meeting the goals. the current way for income may not be working for you, or that the quality of the videos are falling . It might be a signal for you to work on some changes.

Be creative

Quality content is always the key to attract viewers. And to have high quality content you can never be lack of creativity.

The internet is changing so fast that a trend can come and go within a week. New ways for you to gain extra revenue could pop up without you noticing.

So be creative with your use of resources. Always explore new ways and ideas for production and you may have unexpected returns.

The Pros and Cons of Microsoft Teams

The Pros and Cons of Microsoft Teams

Working with Microsoft 365 (Office 365) adoption we often get asked about Microsoft Teams – what are the pros and cons? Should we start using it – How do we explain it to our users. For many organizations that are already onboard the Microsoft 365 journey, the question is not if, it is when and how. Microsoft has made a strategic decision on Teams as the application for intelligent communication, discontinuing their investments in Skype for Business.

But people don’t like being pushed into using something unless they see the benefits of doing so. What are the advantages of moving to Microsoft Teams?

The Benefits and Disadvantages of Microsoft Teams

“Is your organization ready for Microsoft Teams?”. These points are still valid, but they focus more on the pros and cons of the application itself. In this blog post, I’d like to focus on the pros and cons of Microsoft Teams from a business perspective.

Pros of Microsoft Teams

1. Productivity gains and enriched communication
The breadth of collaboration tools offered in Office 365 can often leave users disoriented. Teams increases productivity by making all your collaboration– conversations, chats, online meetings, shared files, tasks, etc. available in one single app and one single interface. In addition to the widely used apps from Microsoft, you have a wide range of 3rd party apps that integrate into Teams so that your users never have to leave the Teams app to get their work done.

Since Teams is a newly developed application without any legacy, it enables a more modern form of communication out of the box– with support for likes, gifs, emoticons, live link previews, etc. that enriches your communication.

2. Increased transparency
A big challenge for many organizations is keeping everyone in the loop and making everyone feel that they know what is going on. With Teams, this becomes so much easier. No longer do you have to worry about who to put on cc in an email or who to invite to a meeting. With Teams, you post your message in the relevant channel, @-mention the people you want to get notified and leave it for everyone else to read if they want, and by having meetings visible to everyone in the channel you increase transparency by enabling everyone in the channel to “pop-in”.

3. Better focus on your work
With Teams, you can easier focus your attention on work-related topics and prioritize your time better. Instead of spending time going through an inbox that contains messages from everyone about everything, Teams compartmentalizes information into channels. The channel only contains conversations, meetings and documents related to the topic of that specific channel. So instead of getting side-tracked with random email, or get stuck trying to clean up your inbox, you can focus your valuable attention and spend your limited time on the channels where you actually do your work.

4. New team members can more quickly get up to speed
In today’s agile workplace where we can easily source talent from anywhere in the world, getting people quickly up to speed is imperative. With Teams, you can quickly get new team members up to speed and engaged in the teamwork – no matter where in the world they are located.

5. Seamless move to a digital workplace
There are so many business benefits of moving to a digital workplace in the cloud. Since Teams is a fully cloud-based solution, the move to the cloud is seamless. Being able to access information from anywhere on any device is a huge business benefit. In addition, with your workplace in the cloud, you can reap the benefits of big data processing and artificial intelligence to work smarter.

Cons of Microsoft Teams

1. Structure of files confuse users
Millennials and Generation Z don’t care “where” files are physically stored, they just search for what they need. Many users still like to know “where” a file is located and go through a folder structure to find it. The way files are stored in Teams can be quite confusing. Everything that is uploaded to conversations is dumped in the channel root folder. If someone tries to organize the files and move them into properly named folders, the file links in the conversations break.

2. Difficult transition from Outlook
The best way to transition to Teams is for everyone who is a member of a team to fully embrace Teams and stop using Outlook all together (except for external communication). However, since there is still a deeply connected dependency on Outlook in Office 365 this becomes a challenge.

3. Non-optimal online meeting experience hinders adoption
Microsoft has been working hard to include the Skype for Business meeting functionality into Teams and they have done a good job an also added new capabilities that weren’t there before. But the meeting experience still isn’t ideal, it’s not very intuitive and it doesn’t promote some of the great capabilities available in Teams for meetings (such as note-taking in OneNote). For users to embrace something as important as online meetings, they need to feel extremely comfortable with the tool.

Note: Since Teams does not yet support guests to “Request Control” in meetings, we at Storyals still have to use Skype for Business for some meetings. If you are in the same situation, you can change the Org-wide settings for coexistence of Skype for Business and Teams.  To learn more see our blog post 5 things you should know about scheduling Teams meetings.

4. Challenges regarding permission settings
One of the key benefits with Teams is that it makes sharing so easy. Everyone who is a member of the Team automatically has access to all the channels and all the files in the Team, the same OneNote notebook, and so on. This is all great. But teamwork isn’t always that binary. Sometimes you want to differentiate and make permission settings more granular – which is not possible at the moment.

Say that you bring in a consultant to work on one of your customer projects. You need to give the consultant access to everything that relates to that project. In Teams today, you can’t put permissions on a channel level. Which means it’s all or nothing. Your solution would be to create a new Team, but you don’t want to replicate or move data just for the sake of one person

5. Limited flexibility can lead to manual replications
When you start working in Teams you don’t have the structure ready from start. You don’t know which channels you need, you might not know exactly what Teams you need to create. This evolves over time with the work that you do. Currently, the building blocks of Teams aren’t’ very flexible (you can’t move channels or replicate Teams). This sometimes leads to time wasted doing manual replications.

Say that you have a team for marketing activities. You start planning an event and create a channel for it. As the event grows, you realize that you need to create a separate Team for the event with additional team members. Currently, you would have to create a new team from scratch and manually copy or move relevant information.

One Plus 7 Review & Unboxing

One Plus 7 Review

Historically, OnePlus has had two big product launches every year. There’s one big launch in the Spring that represents a full step, and one closer to the end of the year that improves the device with whatever new tech has come out since. The latter is the “T” variant device.

Last year’s OnePlus 6T bested the OnePlus 6 with the addition of an in-display fingerprint sensor, a bigger battery, and a smaller notch. This year’s T-variant is a much bigger leap forward. Since the OnePlus 7, the company added a bigger 90Hz display, a new triple-camera system, and the newest gaming-focused processor from Qualcomm. Effectively, this is the OnePlus 7 Pro in a different body, but it’s actually better in many ways.

The OnePlus 7T is targeted at customers who want one of the fastest devices on the market for a price that’s nearly half of its competitors. If you’ve enjoyed OnePlus devices before this, you’ll adore the 7T.

Review video:

Design:

  • 160.94 x 74.44 x 8.13mm
  • 190g
  • Teardrop selfie camera
  • Flat edges
  • Circular triple-camera system
  • Stereo speakers
The OnePlus 7T looks similar to the OnePlus 7 on the front, but wildly different on the back. The display is slightly taller, giving it a longer 20:9 screen-to-body ratio. This extends the size of the display to 6.55 inches versus 6.41 inches on the OnePlus 7, and the change is noticeable in the hand. The phone feels a bit more candybar-shaped, and I’ve enjoyed the extra real-estate during my time with the device.

The waterdrop notch on the front has been scaled down a bit. While this isn’t incredibly noticeable versus the OnePlus 7, it’s nice to see OnePlus attempting to mitigate the notch as much as possible. Many of the devices the 7T competes against have eliminated the notch altogether at this point, and I’m sure OnePlus will continue to shrink the notch in its non-Pro devices over time.

What’s in the box:

  • 30W Warp Charge 30T charging brick
  • USB-A to USB-C cable
  • Clear TPU case
  • Quick start guide
The OnePlus 7T comes with the company’s new Warp Charge 30T charger. This is a 30W brick, but OnePlus says it has optimized energy transfer so it can charge phones 27% faster than its Warp Charge 30 brick. As with the previous brick, the charger keeps the phone from getting too hot by converting the voltage to 5V at 6A in the charger itself, instead of handling the conversion on the device.

As with the OnePlus 7 Pro, the 7T also comes with a TPU case. We’re always happy to see additions like this in the box, but OnePlus makes some of the nicest first-party cases on the market. We strongly suggest you check one of those out if you’re picking up the 7T.

Display

  • 6.55-inch 90Hz AMOLED display
  • 2,400 x 1,080 Full HD+ resolution
  • 20:9 aspect ratio
  • HDR10 / HDR+ certified, 42% less blue light
  • 403ppi
  • Optical in-display fingerprint sensor
OnePlus has put a big focus on displays over the last few years, and we’re happy to say the exceptional display quality of the OnePlus 7 Pro has trickled down to the new phone. The OnePlus 7T has a wonderful display.

OnePlus gave the 7T a 90Hz screen, and every time I switch back to a high refresh rate display I wonder how I ever did without one.

Simply scrolling around the phone feels weird in the best way, since most displays you use on a daily basis are 50Hz or 60Hz. It’s really hard to understand the phenomenon without seeing it for yourself, so I recommend you go look at one in a carrier store.

Performance:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus
  • Adreno 640 GPU
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 128GB of UFS 3.0 storage
OnePlus’ motto has long been “fast and smooth,” and it’s no surprise this device continues that heritage. Oxygen OS is already quite minimal and streamlined, but it’s the components under the hood that really keep this thing running so quickly.

The OnePlus 7T uses Qualcomm’s premier Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which is only in a couple of devices so far. This chip is clearly focused on gaming, with a pretty significant 15% boost to the GPU over the 855. Considering OnePlus devices have long been considered undercover gaming phones, this jump makes sense. Honestly, I’m impressed OnePlus was able to offer this chip at this price point.

The other hardware feature keeping the device running quickly is the UFS 3.0 storage. The company first introduced this much-faster storage option with the OnePlus 7 Pro, and it’s equally incredible that this feature has trickled down to the more affordable device so quickly.

Battery:

  • 3,800mAh
  • 30W charging
  • No wireless charging
The OnePlus 7T suffers from so-so battery life. OnePlus bumped the capacity to 3,800mAh versus 3,700mAh on the OnePlus 7, but the combination of the 90Hz display and higher-energy processor make this phone deliver average battery life at best. The battery lasts about as long as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus in our testing.

Most days I was able to go from unplugging in the morning to after work no problem, but I often needed to give my phone a jump if I planned to go out for the night. If you care, I got about five hours and forty-five minutes of screen-on time by the time I reached five percent.

Fortunately, OnePlus includes a 30W charger with this device. The new Warp Charge 30T charger is also more efficient than the Warp Charge 30 charger included with the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The company says the new charger charges 23% faster. In our independent testing, we found it charged about 12% faster. The OnePlus 7T was able to charge from 0 to 100% in 70 minutes versus 81 minutes on the OnePlus 7, though that phone does have a 100mAh smaller battery. The 7T also charged to 75% in exactly half an hour, which gives you time to freshen up before a night out.

The Warp Charge 30T charger performs power management in the brick itself, which is meant to keep the device cool while charging, and it works fairly well. You can definitely feel the phone heat up, but it’s not bad at all; it stays much cooler than the OnePlus 7 Pro while charging.

There is no wireless charging in this device, which is a bit of a shame, but I think OnePlus is waiting for higher-speed wireless charging to become more standardized before it adds that feature.

Camera:

  • Standard: 48MP, f/1.6, OIS
  • Pixel-binned images at 12MP
  • Wide-angle: 13MP, f/2.2, 117-degree FoV
  • 2x telephoto: 12MP, f/2.2
  • Teardrop selfie camera: 16MP, f/2.0
Traditionally, OnePlus cameras haven’t been amazing. The company always touted bigger pixels and better low-light performance, but for a number of years we haven’t seen huge improvements. So, it was a surprise when the company started releasing rapid camera software updates for the OnePlus 7 Pro.

At launch, the 7 Pro had a decent set of cameras, but they weren’t fantastic. Over time though, the images got better and better, and at this point, they are pretty damn good.

Continuing the trickle-down story of the OnePlus 7T, the company ported the improved camera software to this device. In good light, the images that come out of this phone are fantastic. For a device that costs just $499, this has got to be one of the best cameras available right now

The OnePlus 7T has three cameras on the rear, similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro. The main camera is the 48MP Sony IMX 586, which pixel-bins images to 12MP for better light gathering. The wide camera is technically a 13MP sensor, but it produces 12MP images. OnePlus does this in order to enable electronic image stabilization in video without noticeable cropping. The third camera is a 2x telephoto lens, down from the 3x telephoto shooter in the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Unfortunately, there is no optical image stabilization in the telephoto lens, so you’ll need to hold a little more steady when using that shooter. The telephoto lens is 12MP.

Images are sharp, but not over-sharpened, and colors are overall great. There is a noticeable difference in the color profiles of the wide, standard, and telephoto cameras. It’s likely due to auto white balance using different sources at the different focal lengths.

OnePlus has added a motor to the camera system to allow for super macro shots, and the resulting images are pretty amazing. You can see individual fibers in things, and I feel that phone cameras are finally starting to become tools for everyday life.

Software:

  • Oxygen OS 10
  • Android 10
The OnePlus 7T is running on Oxygen OS 10 based on Android 10, making it one of the first devices to ship with Android’s newest release. The update brings more obvious changes like new navigation gestures and an option for dark mode, but OnePlus says there are over 370 tweaks and optimizations in the software. Other changes include a new reading mode that can show low-gamut color, an extended Zen Mode for longer breaks, and Game Space, which optimizes games on your device for high-fidelity play.

Oxygen OS, OnePlus’ Android skin, is one of my favorites. It’s simple and streamlined, and it additions to vanilla Android are actually useful. You’ve got a built-in screen recorder, reading mode, gaming mode, and more, and I love how OnePlus is able to make its OS so full-featured while also feeling streamlined.

This is based on Android 10’s gestures, so it’s not completely OnePlus’ fault, but it needs some tweaking. You swipe up to go home, pull in from the left or right to go back, and swipe up and hold to multitask. I often had trouble multitasking, and the phone would immediately pull focus back to the app I was just in. You really need to hold for the multitasking menu to pop up, and I think this could be improved.

The OS has already made its way to the OnePlus 7 Pro, and the company is one of the fastest to push Android version updates to its devices.

UPDATE: March 16, 2020 (1:00PM ET): The OnePlus 7T is still on the January 2020 security patch, which isn’t a good look. While being 2 months late to a security patch probably won’t impact your experience, we keep a hard look on devices to make sure they’re updated on time.

Audio:
  • No headphone jack
  • Stereo speakers
  • Dolby Atmos certified
The OnePlus 7T doesn’t have a headphone jack, but it does have dual stereo speakers, and they get super loud. When I tested them against the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, they were noticeably louder and didn’t seem to distort at all, even at max volume. The bass was a bit lacking comparatively, but it felt like the audio was more separated. All in all, I really like these speakers, and I think you’ll like them too if you’re listening to music without an external source.

If you are using Bluetooth, the OnePlus 7T supports Bluetooth 5, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC and AAC.
